The Clayton Tunnel sits snugly between Hassocks and Preston Park railway stations. Stretching out for a mile and 499 yards, it's the longest tunnel on the Brighton Main Line. A serious accident happened here back in 1861. This helped shape the way signalling works in the UK today! Oh, and there's a cute little single-storey cottage right above the tunnel, too!
