Hassocks to Lewes

Distance: 16km\10miles Duration:  4.5 hours

A scenic journey along the South Downs Way. Starting with an uphill trek to the iconic Jack and Jill Windmills, the route then eases into a more relaxed path. Enjoy breathtaking views of the North Downs and the stunning coastline along the way.

Refreshments: Halfway through, you'll find an ice cream van, perfect for a sweet treat. A little further down, a pink drinks van offers refreshments and a portable loo for your convenience.

Once you reach Lewes, there are plenty of dining options available. We chose to eat at The Brewers Arms, which was a lovely experience.

Hassocks to Portslade via Devil's Dyke

Distance: 15km\9.5miles  Duration: 5 hours 

Embark on a picturesque hike along the South Downs Way, where you'll traverse hilly terrain leading up to the iconic Devil's Dyke. As you stroll through the charming village of Pyecombe, be sure to visit its quaint church. From Devil's Dyke, follow the Brighton and Dyke Railway Trail, which offers a gentle descent towards the coast. Along the way, take in breathtaking views of Brighton and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Refreshments:

Pyecombe church offers restroom facilities and hot/cold refreshments.

After crossing the A23, you'll ascend before descending to The Wildflower Café at Saddlescombe Farm. The trek continues uphill to Devil's Dyke, where you can relax at the pub or indulge in a treat from the ice cream van, all while taking in stunning vistas that stretch for miles.

For a delightful dining experience there is The Railway Inn, conveniently located opposite Portslade station. We had a sumptuous Roast Dinner including a Vegan option.

Barnham to Arundel

Distance: 9.6km\6miles  Duration: 3 hours
